Formula One Also another sport that Italy played and helped countries
all around the world including Australia is formula 1 racing. Italy was the
first country to invent Ferraris and Bugatti’s and because they were much
faster than the normal car they started to race them. Formula one racing was
invented by France but because of how close Italy was to France Italy quickly
learnt the sport and taught many countries the sport and how to play the sport.
The formula one Grand Prix is in Italy. One Italy migrant was to become a super
star in Australia and he is Giuseppe Farina and he was promoting the Ferrari. He won 11 grand prix in his life time
and when he retired he came over to Australia and set up a race course and
taught young Australians how to be a formula one racer.
ALAN JONES
This is a example of a Italian migrant who has made a impact in Australia about sport. Alan Stanley Jones is an Australian former Formula One driver. He was the first driver to win a Formular World Championship with the Williams team, becoming the 1980 World Dicers Champion and the second Australian to do so following triple World Champion. Jones is also the last Australian driver to win the Australian grand Prix, winning the 1980 event at Calder Park raceway, having lapped the field consisting mostly of Formula 5000 cars while he was driving his Formula One Championship winning. Alans Jones parents where from Italy but they moved to Australia five weeks before he was born. This Italian fromula one driver has migrated to Australia to teach and drive for Australia.
FOOTBALL The most
prominent soccer clubs in Australian cities during the 1950s and 1960s were
based around migrant-ethnic
groups, all of which
expanded rapidly at that time: Croatian, Greek, Italian and Serbian communities gave rise to most of the largest
clubs, the most notable being South MelbourneMarconi Stallions (Italian-based), Adelaide City (Italian-based). Italy helped
Australia to grow the sport football. Italy created clubs and taught Australia
the proper rules. Italy introduced the rule offside in Australia because
Australia did not play offside and when the Italians came they though it was a
disgrace to the game. So if Italy had not migrated to Australia there would be
no offside. Italy created two
of the first teams ever created in Australia. When Italy immigrated to Australia
Italy set up the biggest football club in Australia and they had only been
there for 20 years and had already brought more football into Australia. Than any other country.
DEL PEIRO Alessandro Del Piero sought a new challenge after ending his record-breaking 19-year soccer career with Italian champion Juventus. He found it in Australia. Del Piero, a World Cup winner with Italy in 2006, will become the highest-profile player to compete in Australia’s A- League after signing a two-year contract to become Sydney FC’s so-called marquee player. He is second place in the ranking of Italian all-time top scorers. Del piero is now playing for Sydney fc in Australia and Australia is now seeing a true football star.
